2010 SUMMER PROGRAM OPPORTUNITIES

Camp Jesse R. Lovejoy Day Camp in the Helderbergs•
Children age 6 through 13 can enjoy daily swim lessons and a recreational swim in our outdoor swimming pool. The Camp Lovejoy program covers all of the other traditional summer day camp activities such as arts, crafts, games and special events.  Campers are able to journey through the woods and ponds on our 50 acre site as they inspect life outside of their neighborhood. 
From June 29 through August 14.  Campers board a bus from 24 different stops in Schenectady County each morning and return to that stop each evening by 5:20PM.   Of special interest at Camp Lovejoy is the Project Adventure ropes course.  The course offers 8 challenging elements that campers attempt while they develop skills in communication, planning and teamwork.  Daily lunch and snack are free to each camper attending the Camp Lovejoy program.  

Craig Street Club Summer Night- A summer program on Tuesday & Wednesday Nights, June 29 - August 18, 5:00pm - 9:30pm. Badminton, Ping Pong, Board Games, Basketball, Jump rope, Double-dutch, Astronomy classes, Hip Hop Dance lessons, Open Mic Nights, Snacks and lots more Family Fun.  Call 374-4714 for more information or click the link above. 
Elementary Academic Intervention Services Summer AcademyStudents entering grades 3-6 are invited to participate in the 16-day AIS Summer Reading and Math Academy which will be held at Woodlawn Elementary School July 12 - August 5. The Academy will run Monday through Thursday 
from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
 
Students will work on developing English language, reading, math and study skills during the morning.  They will work on youth development and leadership activities in the afternoon.  The afternoon session is coordinated by Boys and Girls, Inc. and the school district.

S.P.A.R.C.  - Summer Program At the Rotterdam Clubhouse

The Rotterdam Boys & Girls Club at 721 Curry Road will offer a host of indoor and outdoor programs beginning June 28 through August 20 (CLOSED Monday July 5).  Members 6 to 13 years can register for weekly sessions of swimming, games, pottery, technology, sports and recreational fun each weekday. From 9AM until 5PM members participate in activities that are fun and educational.  Early and late care for your child can be arranged.  

Quackenbush Park - Enjoy the Summer at Quackenbush Park & Pool Locared on Forest Road, between Mont Pleasant Middle and Pleasant Valley Elementary Schools.  We will offer a variety of programs from June 28, 2010 through August 20, 2010 CLOSED Monday July 5, 2010.  

Hours:  Monday - Friday 10am-6pm, Saturdays 12-5pm(Free Swim Only)
Swim Lessons, Open Swim, Family Night, Special Events, Reading Program, SMART Girls, 15 - Love Tennis, YWCA Non-Violence support programs, Sports, Recreation, Lunch each day.

Summer Youth Employment 

Money Matters and Career Zone – For all summer youth employment participants.  At Schenectady County Community College.  More than 300 Summer Youth Employees will learn the basics of money management like how to open and keep a checking account, savings account and basic budgeting for present needs and future plans through Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Money Matters Program.   Participants will also explore career opportunities through N.Y.S. Career Zone.  Call 374-4714 for more information. 

Financial Aid An unlimited number of Camperships are available for those who may not be able to afford a Camp Lovejoy experience.  It is available through the Annual Campership Campaign. Please call us to see how you may benefit from this opportunity.  Referrals are accepted from guidance staff, school nurses and other agency staff.
