CLUBService Program - Answer yes to the following 4 questions and then call us to find out if you may be eligible. Please note the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady will not have any new openings until September 2010.
  •Are you a 17 or 18 year old Boys & Girls Club member or a Club Alumnae/i 19 to 24 years old?
  •Do you like to volunteer?
•Are you planning for college or post-secondary education?
•Do you want to earn $2362.50 for college or other post-high school education?

If you have answered YES to these questions, this program may be of interest to you.  Read on for more program information.
How does CLUBService work?
You may earn a $2362.50 award for 900 hours of service over a one or two-year period.  You may earn this amount for up to two terms of service.  This award can be used to help pay student loans, to finance college, graduate school or vocational training.  All Title IV institutions or federally-backed loans are eligible.  Participants must be a U.S. citizen, national or lawful permanent resident alien.

How does the service count?
Boys & Girls Club teens and young alumni are making significant contributions in Clubs and communities. CLUBService recognizes these efforts by allowing hours of service to count towards an AmeriCorps term. “Getting Things Done” is the motto for AmeriCorps members. CLUBService members are getting things done postively for kids in our Boys & Girls Clubs!

What do CLUBService members do?
Contributions made by CLUBService participants are as diverse as the services provided by Boys & Girls Clubs. CLUBService members serve in the following AmeriCorps priority areas:
·          Educational Support Activities
·          Public Safety
·          Member Development|
CLUBService members may work as tutors,  mentors for younger children, instructional programming, computer instruction, program delivery and much more.

This program, the result of a partnership between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Corporation for National and Community Service (AmeriCorps), provides education awards to Club members ages 17 and 18 and Club alumni ages 19-24 who serve their Clubs and communities.  The Education Awards Program expands opportuninties for young people to serve their communities and earn financial support for further education.  Some applicants may be eligible for an hourly stipend in addition to the education award.  A CLUBService Volunteer may only receive two awards from the Corporation for National and Community Service.
