Mentor Description and Application                                Youth Referral Form

PROMISES is a unique site and community based mentoring program.  After matching our mentors with a mentee (youth) who has similar interests, goals and personality, we provide extensive support, including training, and ideas and materials for all sorts of fun activities.  We focus on relationship building, having fun, academic support, career development and exposure to new things through monthly field trips.

For the first 3-6 months we provide mentors and mentees matches with a safe and comfortable meeting spot, at one of our 5 Clubs in Schenectady, at the child’s school or at one of our summer programs.  After that our matches are encouraged to begin exploring opportunities within the local community, however they are always invited to come back to visit our sites at any point during the relationship.  Most matches meet in the late afternoon or early evening on a weeknight or on the weekends.  We are very flexible and are usually able to work around everyone's schedules.
