Camp Registration Info & Bus Schedule

                       
CAMP LOVEJOY Registration for 2010 is still open!!!
Registration is always first come - first served.  A reservation without payment is not available.
 
WHERE and WHEN MAY I REGISTER MY CHILD?
You may register at ALL Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady sites or at our Adminstrative Office at the Craig Street Clubhouse, 400 Craig Street during office hours, 9am-5pm.
Call us at 374-4714 and make an appointment or for the location nearest to you.

WHEN DOES CAMP BEGIN?

Camp Lovejoy's 2010 season begins June 28 for seven, one week sessions until Friday, August 13.  A bus list (below) gives all the stops that our buses may make. (This may change prior to June ) Campers are picked up at approximately 8:00 AM and  drop offs are at approximately 5:00PM.  
Camp Lovejoy does not operate on Monday, July 5
WHAT DO I NEED WHEN I REGISTER MY CHILD?
Boys & Girls Club Membership number,
Birth Certificate if your child is 6 or 7 years old,
Proof of income statement for previous calendar year or present year,
Child's SS#,
Immunization records of ALL dates,
If DSS recipient, you will need a signed letter of approval at registration time with the amount DSS will allow for each week atending.
If the camper needs a prescription administered during the day, it must be accompanied with a doctor's instruction.

WHAT PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED?

Swim lessons plus Recreational "free swim" are offered daily to each camper. 
SMARTMoves drug and alcohol abuse prevention program
Wilderness Exploration,
Camp Lovejoy Achievment Program
Project Adventure challenge ropes course helps campers with team work, planning, decision making and physical fitness.  Lunch and Snack are provided each day to all campers.
Nature programs,
Hiking,
Sports,
Creative arts,
Performing Arts and 
Special events, games and more are offered every day.
WHAT DOES IT COST?
The cost for one week session at Camp Lovejoy is $40.00 to $150.00 per week and is based on family income. An unlimited number of Camperships are available for those children whose family may not be able to afford the cost of Camp registration.  The actual cost of camp is $150.00 per week for each Camper.  Our Campership Campaign will supplement the difference.
Out of County residents may attend Camp Lovejoy at the rate of $150.00 per week.

Those families receiving assistance from the Department of Social Services must obtain a voucher before registering your child(ren). 

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?  
All Campers MUST be members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady.  The annual membership fee is $5.00 at all Clubhouses with the exception of Rotterdam which is $10.00.  All Campers must have a health form completed with dates of immunizations, alergies and medical conditions identified and an Income Statement completed before attending Camp Lovejoy.

ARE ALL CAMPERS GROUPED TOGETHER? 
No they are not. Campers are placed in one of 4 age groups.
6 year olds
7 & 8 year olds
9 & 10 year olds
11 to 13 year olds
All campers do come together for special events and group activities.

WHERE CAN I GET THE BUS?  (These times may change up to the last week of registration.)
Please be at bus stops 10 minutes ahead of scheduled time.  Buses will drop off the children in the evening in reverse order.  (The first picked up in the AM will be the last dropped off in the evening.)

DO I HAVE TO BRING A LUNCH?
No.  All campers are provided with a free lunch and free snack each day.  The program is available through the Summer Feeding Program of the USDA.

WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY LIKE AT CAMP LOVEJOY?
7:50 - 8:20 - Campers Picked up at 21 stops 
8:45 to 9:00 - Campers Arrive at Lovejoy - while waiting for others to arrive Counselors engage campers in games, activities, schedule.   
9:00 Raising the flag, pledge of allegiance, attendance, Camp Director's announcements
9:15 Morning sessions begin
During three periods we offer: Swim lessons (morning only), Sports, Crafts, Project Adventure, Indian Lore & Orienteering, Science & Nature, Special Events, SMART Games
12:00  Lunch – attendance & USDA lunch program
12:45 Afternoon sessions begin
During three afternoon sessions we offer Open swim for all campers plus those sessions not attended in the morning. 
3:45  Snack time & Camp clean-up
4:00  attendance and bus loading
4:15 Bus leaves Camp Lovejoy
4:45 - 5:15 Approximate arrival at bus stops
