Thank you to New York State employees, Office of General Services and Governor Cuomo for making our

Yesterday, the New York State Office of General Services dropped off hundreds of unwrapped toys, coats and school supplies for the kids of Schenectady!

Former Mayor of Schenectady Brian Stratton, who now serves as the Director of the New York State Canal Corporation, joined boys and girls of the Rotterdam Club to present the toys, which were collected throughout the Capital District area through drop-off bins and regional toy drives.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced last month a statewide holiday drive to benefit families in need across New York. "New Yorkers have a long and proud tradition of lending a hand and helping those in need," Governor Cuomo said. "As we celebrate with family and friends this year, I encourage New Yorkers to continue this tradition.”

As kids rolled into the Club yesterday, we heard “my dreams have come true” and “oh my goodness!” They pondered over so many choices and beamed with excitement.

Executive Director Shane Bargy said “It is heartwarming to see so many people helping less fortunate families during the holiday season. Without the compassionate efforts of individuals, too many children feel left out of the holiday celebrations that other families enjoy. Today was magical for the young people at our Boys & Girls Club thanks to everyone working for New York State!”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady is incredibly thankful to Governor Cuomo, the Office of General Services, and to all those individuals who donated to make the holiday season special for our kids.
