Club Blue at Rotterdam Clubhouse

Earlier this week, Club Blue members joined youth members from the Rotterdam Club, an affiliate of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady (BGCS), for some art, pizza and recreation. “We had a blast painting our bus props with some of the Rotterdam Club kids,” said Club Blue Co-Chair Dan Stevens.

Joining Dan was Club Blue Co-Chair Erin Baumeister and Club Blue members Ashley Quimby-Simoni, Stefanie Markiewicz and Michael Baish to paint a school bus in preparation of Club Blue’s goal to raise $5,000 to sponsor a bus in support of the 2019 Campership Campaign.

Since 1987, the Campership Campaign has been supporting Schenectady kids going up to Camp Lovejoy for a true day-camp experience. Camp Lovejoy grounds includes the Addie Graham Lodge, a swimming pool, ponds, hiking trails, vegetable garden, amphitheater, specialty buildings and playing fields.

Bus transportation is provided daily to get campers from the City to the beautiful camp located in the Helderberg Mountains. Campers experience daily swim lessons, lunch and snack, and specialty camps including dance, drama, sports, fine arts, pottery, STEAM, multi-media and video production.

In 2018, Club Blue re-launched by Co-Chairs Dan Stevens and Erin Baumeister, to inspire young professionals to provide their time, talent and treasure in support of BGCS. Club Blue is a group that is committed to making a difference in the community by connecting and engaging with young professionals and raising resources in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady. Last year, Club Blue organized three events including an Evening of Yoga, Paint & Sip and Trivia Night.

Club Blue will be launching their initiative to raise $5,000 to sponsor a bus on May 9 at the Frog Alley Brewery on South Ferry St. at 5 p.m. For more information on Club Blue visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bgcschenectady/ or email tczachor@bgcschenectady.com.
