ABOUT CAMP LOVEJOY.

Camp Lovejoy, located in the beautiful Helderberg Mountains, is a summer haven engaging Boys & Girls Club members in exciting programs while providing opportunities for new friendships, experiences and lasting memories.

Acquired in 1957 with a generous contribution from Jesse R. Lovejoy, the grounds include a swimming pool, ponds, hiking trails, an outdoor amphitheater, arts & crafts building, picnic pavilions and playing fields, as well The Adeline Graham Lodge, a large air conditioned main hall.

Actual cost per camper: $200/week— thanks to our generous Campership Campaign donors, we are able to provide a partial scholarship to every camper at the rates listed above.

A DAY AT CAMP.

Enrolled campers are transported daily by bus to Camp Lovejoy. Parents may also drive campers to and from camp if they choose or if buses are full.

Lunch and afternoon snack are included.

Menus are posted on the Camp Lovejoy Facebook page weekly.

All campers enjoy a wide range of activities from daily swims, swim lessons, sports, project adventure, arts & crafts, dance, science & nature and more.

SPECIALTY CAMPS.

Specialty Camp programs take place during the morning session at Camp Lovejoy. When you register for camp, select your camper’s Specialty Camp preference. Specialty Camp programs run for 2 week sessions.

Designed for advanced swimmers to build a foundation of skills and knowledge for future lifeguarding.

CIT Program (14 year olds)

The Counselor-In-Training Program at Camp Lovejoy is designed to offer 14 year old campers an opportunity to prepare for positions as junior camp counselors. This program will help develop their leadership and communication skills,

Campers will explore their love of cooking while enhancing their skills and knowledge to make healthy nutritional choices.

Science, technology, engineering, art and math! Through hands-on experiments and exploration, campers will work together to ignite their curiosity and discover more about the world around them.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR CAMP LOVEJOY.

  • Complete the Summer 2025 Membership Registration

    • All campers must have a Summer 2025 Membership with BGCS before they can register for Camp Lovejoy. School Year memberships are only valid through June.

    • New Members: If your child is new to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady or their most recent membership was prior to September 2022, click here for instructions on how to create a parent portal account and obtain a membership for your camper.

    • Returning Members: If your child was a member and attended one of our Clubhouses or School Programs Since September 2022, a parent portal account was already created. Please log into that account to process a Summer 2025 membership.

    • When accessing your Parent Portal Account: your username will be the parent/guardian email entered when account was created; if you cannot remember your password, click the “Forgot Your Password” link on the portal login page; If you cannot remember your username, please contact our office at (518) 374-4714.

  • Before starting your online registration for Camp Lovejoy, you will need to know the following information:

    • What weeks would I like my camper(s) to attend?

    • What is the preferred transportation option for my camper(s)? (Please note: not all bus options may be available at the time of registration due to limited bus seating)

    • What specialty campers will my camper choose to participate in? (You will be asked to choose the preferred Specialty Camp for each camp session plus two alternate choices.

    • All 6 year old campers will participate in “The Explorers” Specialty Camp.

  • In your portal, click on the Registration tab in the navigation bar, or click the Browse Registrations button on the Home page.

  • Verify the “Current Location” (located just above the program search bar) is set to Camp Lovejoy.

    If not, click “Change”, select Camp Lovejoy, then click the Save button.

  • Using the “Browse” filter on the lower left of the registration page, for each browse level select the following:

    • 1st level: Category- click on “Camp Lovejoy”

    • 2nd level: Programs- Select the week you are currently enrolling the member in

    • 3rd level: Courses- Select your Transportation Option (Bus A, Bus B, Bus C, Bus D or No Bus)

  • Once you have selected the Course (Transportation option), you will see the available enrollment options with pricing to the right of the search menu.

    • If one child from your household will be attending the selected week, choose the Child 1 Enrollment Option.

    • If multiple children from your household will be enrolling for the same camp week, choose the option that corresponds with each child you are registering to take advantage of the discounted pricing.

    For the 1st Child attending select the Child 1 Enrollment ($75)

    For the 2nd Child attending select the Child 2 Enrollment ($60)

    For the 3rd Child attending select the Child 3+ Enrollment ($40)

    For any additional children, continue to select the Child 3+ Enrollment ($40)

    • You can click on the shopping cart icon to verify your enrollment selections.

    To remove an enrollment, either go back to the Course Enrollment Selection, click on “Enroll” again and “Unselect” that member, or you can proceed to the Summary page and click on the trashcan for the unwanted enrollment to delete it.

  • Click next to proceed to the registration questions that must be completed for each camper.

    • All required questions must be completed.

    • Registration questions are grouped by those “common” to all weeks selected, and then by each individual week. You will need to click on each segment to access and answer all questions.

    • Review and complete the acknowledgements/waivers.

    • Review your registration summary and process payment.

    • Submit all required documentation.

  • Registering does not guarantee a place at camp until all of the following are received:

    1. Full payment

    2. Completed Summer Food Program Eligibility Form for 2025

    3. A copy of the most current immunization record for your camper(s)

    4. If medication is to be taken while at camp, a doctor’s note/order must be provided by each medication (must include medication name, dose and times)

    Documents can be submitted by:

    Upload through your Parent Portal account

    • Navigate to “Update your Profile” tab

    • Select Campers Name

    • Choose “Upload your Documents: Camp Lovejoy Required Documents” form

    • Follow the directions provided
