Kicking Off Fundraising for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady's Camp Lovejoy

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady (BCGS) held its 2023 Campership Campaign Kick-Off Reception to launch its fundraising campaign for Camp Lovejoy, and to introduce its new Executive Director, Scott Hayden.

This year’s Campership Campaign was the first Club event for the new Executive Director, Scott Hayden. Hayden brings over twenty years of experience in nonprofit leadership to BGCS. He previously served as the Executive Director of the Adirondack Folk School. Hayden is excited to join BGCS and continue the organization's mission of providing after-school and summer programs for children and youth in the Schenectady area.

"We are thrilled to have Scott Hayden join us as our new Executive Director," said Brittany M. McAvoy, President of the BGCS Board of Directors. "Scott’s experience and leadership will be invaluable in helping us achieve our mission of supporting the children and youth of Schenectady. We are excited to kick off this fundraising campaign for Camp Lovejoy under his guidance."

Located in the Helderberg Mountains of Altamont, NY, Camp Lovejoy is a summer camp program that offers a safe, fun, and educational experience for children from the Schenectady area. Enrolled campers are transported daily by bus to Camp Lovejoy. All campers enjoy a wide range of activities including daily swimming, swim lessons, sports, project adventure, arts & crafts, dance, science & nature, and much more.

BGCS is committed to providing Schenectady’s youth with a summer experience that helps them to build their confidence and allows them to be kids in a safe and structured outdoor environment. The Campership Campaign aims to raise money to support the continued operation of Camp Lovejoy. Donations will go towards providing scholarships for children, improving facilities, and expanding the program to reach more children in need.

To support the campaign, individuals and businesses can donate online at https://www.bgcschenectady.org/campership-campaign. All donations are tax-deductible.
