The Plug Career Expo Inspires and Empowers Teenagers and Young Adults Entering the Workforce

Thank you to our many community partners that joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady for our first The Plug Career Expo at the Adeline Wright Graham Clubhouse on Saturday, April 1. Our Workforce Development Team organized this career expo as an opportunity for teenagers and young adults to participate in hands-on workshops, learn essential skills, and be inspired by future employers with topics including culinary arts, graphic design, real estate, leadership, a police bootcamp, and a resume and interviews workshop – just to name a few!

Our keynote speakers included Prince Sprauve, film director and owner of Quiet on Set; Cut the Fiscal Fat; and DJ Ketchup. These keynote speeches were available to all who attended the event. Participants were thoroughly engaged as they learned new and interesting facts and tips from these industry experts.

We are thankful to our Keynote speakers, presenters, and hiring businesses who came to share open positions and career options with many young participants. Thank you to First NY Federal Credit Union, Schenectady Police Department, Schenectady Fire Department, New York State Troopers, Market32 by Price Chopper, Schenectady City School District, Mazzones Hospitality, Amazon, Living Resources, Northern Rivers, P1 Industries, SEAT Center, Electric City Barn, Schenectady County Connects, Marshalls, SUNY System Administration, SUNY SCCC, Latham Pool, and CDL School.
